HMC - Biosketch

Hershel Chicowitz is a proud, loyal American, former Boy Scout, steadfast baby boomer, and Boomer-in-Charge at Baby Boomer HeadQuarters - WWW.BBHQ.COM - THE place on the Internet for those with the boomer spirit.

Born and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Mr. Chicowitz was blessed with a terrific set of parents and a wonderful school system that presented him with a "Father Knows Best" environment.
The fifties and sixties left a deep, indelible mark on Hershel's mind, which he reflects in his writing. He has a wide and deep interest in many subjects, but claims that the music in his life defines him. His favorite music compositions are "The Nutcracker Suite" and "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose its Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight?" Make of that what you will.

Hershel thinks of himself as a cross between Erma Bombeck and Lewis Grizzard, two of his idols in the field of writing. He notes that, "Both of them have published far more than I have. However, neither of them will ever publish again. I am not so constrained."
In his essays, Hershel uses lessons of his childhood as the basis for entertaining, humorous, patriotic, nostalgic, and sometimes thought-provoking and instructive stories. Sometimes he translates his experiences into straight-talking, practical commentary, advice, and lessons for today's (and tomorrow's) society.

Mr. Chicowitz's credentials include a bachelor's degree in Computer Systems (American University) and a masters' degree in Management (University of South Florida). He taught at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels for over 20 years. As a computer auditor for Coopers & Lybrand (now Price-Waterhouse Coopers), Hershel worked on the financial audits of both large and small companies.
